More bugs in the search for something else

As I already mentioned in the previous post, I recently started looking for a job again. And while I keep searching, I keep running into these little buddies šŸž everywhere.

Here’s the latest I’ve come across.

First. While I was editing my profile on one of those job-board websites, I started updating my experience. Every time I added something and hit save, one of those very common notifications popped up at the top of the screen. Normally, and for good reason, these notifications appear and, if the user doesn’t manually dismiss them by clicking the X, they disappear after a few seconds. Well, not on this site:

We shouldn’t force our users to click the X every single time we send one of these. We could show them, wait about 3-5 seconds, and make them disappear automatically. Movement usually catches the user’s attention, so we can assume they’ve seen it.

Second. While I was reading (and deleting) emails, I found this old notification for a hotel reservation I made a few months ago. I think someone forgot to set up, and then test, that all the template was correct before shipping the changes to “production.”

Third. While I was filling out a job application, I came across this question.

desierto

ā€œWere you recommended (or referred) by an employee of this company?ā€ it asks, and you can answer YES and NO. Here we should have a radio button, so the user is forced to choose only one of them.

Fourth. And finally, we have a couple of ghost buttons on two different sites. I think this might be an issue with my setup, I’ve been using Ubuntu lately, and I mention the OS because I tested it on both Firefox and Chromium, and it fails the same way on both. Does this happen to you, my two readers, on other operating systems?

In the first video you can see that on the ā€œcardā€ there are several hidden buttons that react when you hover the mouse over them. In the second, you can see that one of the buttons is invisible.

And that wraps up another edition of Look What I’ve Found. So, what have you stumbled upon lately, without even looking?

There are lot of places where they ask repeated boring questions which is not even relevant to job, please employers if you are hiring somebody to be on your team work for next couple years please spend sometime clearing your hiring questioner
